Joseph S. Ferrullo 65, of Mountainside died on Saturday April 6 ^th , 2013 at home.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Thursday at 9:30 am. The funeral mass is at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mountainside at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. For directions or to send condolences visit galantefh.com.

Born in Newark he lived there until he moved to Mountainside 33 years ago. He was Police Captain in the City of Newark for 25 years until he retired in 1998. After he retired he was the Director of Security for Arcorp Properties for 8 years. He also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War for 2 years. He was a member of The N.J. State Association of Police Chiefs in West Trenton, The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 12 in Newark, The Retired Policeman and Fireman’s Association in Newark, The Superior Officers Association in Newark, The Society of Investigators of Greater Newark, and a charter member of The N.J. Performing Arts Center in Newark.

Joseph was married to his wife Kathleen E Ferrullo (nee Clark) for 41 years, and is the father of Dana Marie Ferrullo, the grandfather of Alicia Marie, as well as the son of the late Anna (nee Eslinger) and Dominick Ferrullo and the brother of the late Donnie Ferrullo.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be made to  The Pancreatic Support Fund at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center 100 Madison Ave. Morristown, N.J. 07960, Attn: Gilbert Baez; in his memory.
