Alan M. Duva
Alan M. Duva, son of the late Rocco and Doris (Kiernan), passed away on April 11, 2020. After a long illness.
He was born in Newark, NJ, and was a long time resident of the Ironbound area. Alan attended Ann Street School, and was a graduate of East Side High’s 100th graduation class. He moved to Berkeley Heights, NJ, in 1996.
Alan was a self-made man with a strong work ethic. He was employed by Union Carbide/PraxAir Corporation for 47 years. He began his career in the mail room facility located in Newark, NJ. Alan quickly advanced up the professional ladder, ultimately obtaining the position of Domestic and International Safety Auditor. Alan traveled the world, making long lasting friendships along the way. He retired in 2015.
Alan’s passions were: new cars, (more than 27), Johnny Walker Black, Motown music (loved the 60’s), and his friends and family. He was loyal, and you could always count on Alan being on-time!
Alan was predeceased by his brother Martin. He leaves behind a brother Thomas, of Woodbridge, NJ; and his extended family; Joseph, Joann, Martin, Judy, John, Linda Capriglione, Loretta and Patrick Thornton, Joanne Noviello, and the O’Leary family. He was Uncle Alan to 17 nieces and nephews, and 17 great-nieces and nephews.
As Alan would say, “It is what it is”, he will be missed but will be remembered for his generosity, and lifelong friendships.
