Albert Sobral

Albert Sobral, 91 of West Caldwell passed away at home on November 10, 2014.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Thursday at 8:30 AM. Funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave. Caldwell at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation is on Wednesday from 3-8 PM.

Born in New Bedford, Mass., Albert lived in the Ironbound section of Newark and in Bloomfield before moving to West Caldwell in 1983. He was the owner of Core's Tavern in Bloomfield for 20 years before retiring many years ago.

Albert was the son of the late Antonio and Juliet (nee Faria) Sobral, and husband of the late Florine (nee Zamarelli). He is survived by his beloved daughter and caretaker Cheryl Giordano. He was predeceased by his stepson Louis V. Giordano. Albert was the brother of Eleanor San Fillippo and her husband Robert; and the late Ezura Core, Charlie, Albertino, Antonio and Virgilio Sobral. He was the brother-in-law of Thomas Core, Sr., Calvin and Don Zamarelli; uncle of Thomas Core, Jr. and his wife Roseann, Kevin Core and his wife Gina, and the late Glenn and Jason Core. Albert is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.
