Alfred P. Volpe 74, of Union died on Tuesday January 21, 2014,  in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday at 9 am. The funeral mass will be in St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Union for 50 years. He was a truck driver for the N.J. Turnpike Authority in Woodbridge for many years.

Al was a man who was easy to love. Nothing was more important to Al than his family. His wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren were his world. Al was very proud of his family. Being the rock of his family was a role that he enjoyed. Everyone who knew him, loved him. His smile, character, generous nature and compassion for others will be deeply missed.

Al was the husband of Denise (nee Visicaro) and is the father of Michelle Volpe Straniero and her husband Michael,John Volpe and his wife Celia, Salvatore Volpe and his wife Denise, Leslie Volpe and her boyfriend Joseph Zapico, Michael Mc Caffrey and his companion Dawn, David Mc Caffrey and his wife Jennifer. He was also the son in law of Frances Visicaro, and the brother of Marie Bruno, Patricia Blicharz, and the late Genevieve Truncale. Al is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
