Alice (nee Tortoriello) Garafolo Kalinovich

August 21, 1926 – December 12, 2013

Alice (nee Tortoriello) Garafolo Kalinovich, 87, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Thursday evening, December 12, 2013. She passed peacefully listening to her favorite Frank Sinatra CD’s, and every once in awhile calling out “Mildred,” her beloved predeceased sister and dance partner.  She did it, “Her Way.” Visitation will be Monday, December 16, between 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ, on Tuesday, 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark, NJ. The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Alice was born in the Ironbound section of Newark, where she spent most of her life. She is survived by: her loving daughter, Michele Garafolo Rhine, son-in-law, Michael Rhine, cherished and adored grandson, Marc Pico, granddaughter-in-law, Lei Pico, great-grandson, Anthony Pico, beloved sisters, Louise Tortoriello and Emily Kret, and sister-in-law and dance partner, Dolly Tortoriello. She is predeceased by husbands: Salvatore “Sonny” Garafolo, and Stephen Kalinovich, her beloved son Bruce Garafolo, and siblings, (twin) Benny Tortoriello, and Mildred Basilone.
