Alice Mikolajczyk

Born in 1919, in the heart of Pennsylvania , Alice's journey through over a century of life has been as vibrant and rich as her favorite colors, pink and purple. 

Alice's story is one of unwavering determination and dedication. At the tender age of 4, she embarked on a transatlantic journey with her parents and siblings to Poland, only to return to her homeland during the tumult of World War II. Despite the upheavals of war, Alice epitomized the American spirit, embodying resilience and hard work. 

From her days at Zitar Zippers to her nights as a trusted office cleaner who held key-holder access to the most prestigious law firm in downtown Newark, Alice's commitment to excellence shone bright, earning her a reputation as a paragon of reliability. Yet, amidst her professional pursuits, Alice always held dear the sanctity of home. 

Her abode, meticulously maintained, stood as a testament to her unwavering pride and attention to detail. Most memorably in her kitchen, Alice wielded magic, crafting delectable homemade pierogies and Italian meatballs that left all who tasted them in awe.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, John S. her dedicated son, John Edward (1955 – 2020), and her beloved stepdaughter, Helen Mikolajczyk Oertel (d. 2017, Lloyd, d. 2022)

Alice is survived by her adored granddaughters, Patricia and Kathryn who she absolutely cherished, as they did her; and caring Daughter-in-Law, Donna. Alice is also survived by her stepson, Edward Mikolajczyk, his wife, Dottie, and her step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Kevin, Debra, Cindy, Lloyd Jr, Thomas, and their spouses and children.

A visitation for Alice will be held on Thursday, August 8th at Galante Funeral Home (2800 Morris Avenue in Union) from 10am to 12pm. 

A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 12pm, followed by her burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
