Allan E. Jacobus, 71 of Union passed away on February 10, 2023.
Funeral Services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
Born in Irvington, Allan was a longtime Union resident. He was a part-time musician, playing bass guitar and doing vocals for his band, Linay. He enjoyed playing with the band at various Elks Clubs throughout Essex and Union counties. He formerly worked as an electronics repairman for Atlas Electronics, and has been retired over 20 years.
Music was an important element in Allan's life since he was a child. Like many of his generation, he saw The Beatles play on the Ed Sullivan Show when he was 12 years old. From that moment on, Allan knew he wanted to be in a band. He played multiple instruments, starting with the drums in the early 1960s, before going on to guitar, bass and piano, all the while becoming an accomplished singer. He even taught his only nephew, Michael, his first guitar chord when he was a child.
Allan was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Anna Jacobus, and by his beloved girlfriend Michele Tingoli. He is survived by his loving sister Susan Van Laar, by his nephew Michael Van Laar and his wife Lauren, by his grand-nieces Julia and Ella, and by his grand-nephew Tyler.
