Anna Leonardis

Anna May Leonardis (nee Nagle), 88 of Fords, NJ passed away on March 5, 2022.

Born in New York City and raised in Down Neck, Newark, Ann graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School. She was a model and later in life worked at ShopRite in Edison for 20 years where she was fondly known as “ShopRite Annie”. She was best known for her huge laugh, amazing cooking, and love of animals. Her dream of having a big family came true with her beloved 10 sisters and brothers in-law and her 6 children.
The daughter of the late Margaret May Nagle, Anna was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Leonardis, loving mother of Donna Marie Williams. Son-in-law Herb who predeceased her, Thomas A. Leonardis, Jr., Stephanie Ann Cassell who predeceased her and Peter Cassell, Margie May and Robert McDonald, Stephen J. Leonardis and Kimberly Illes, and Christopher M. Leonardis, cherished grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of five.
Anna May’s best days were those filled with cooking, family, laughter, a cup of coffee, glass of wine and her pets at her side.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Anna at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Thursday from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newark on Friday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
