Anthony Di Murro

Anthony W. Di Murro 75, of Springfield died on Sunday October 5, 2014 at home.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday at 9 am. The funeral mass will be in St. James Church in Springfield at 10 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Born in Hoboken, he lived in Jersey City, before moving to Springfield  18 years ago. He served in the  US Army during the 1960's.  After his discharge he was a truck driver   for Carolina Freightways in Jersey City for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 560. He also ran the Washington Park Little League in Jersey City, and  was the head umpire for The Pershing Field Semi Pro Baseball League also in Jersey City, as well as Coaching for the Springfield Little League  for many  years. After his retirement he founded Lily's Pantry in honor of his mother Lily, to help feed and service the less fortunate. He was also a volunteer for the St. James School Lunch Program in Springfield. He was a dedicated husband, father, coach, and philanthropist.

Anthony was married to his wife Patricia P. Di Murro (nee Cuozzo) for 51 years. He is the father of Anthony J. Di Murro and his wife Julie, Dr. Madeline Di Murro and her husband Anthony Alaimo, and Maria Di Murro. He was the son of the late Carmella (Lily) (nee Dello Stritto) and Joseph Di Murro, and also the brother of Vincent Di Murro, the late Neil Di Murro, and Carmella Rzucidlo. He is  the grandfather  of Anthony Cologio, and Lucia Patricia.
