Anthony  "TG"  Garcia

Anthony "TG" Garcia 91, of Manahawkin, died on Thursday July 3, 2014 at Barnegat Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Barnegat.

The funeral mass will be on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at St. Theresa Church in Kenilworth, at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-7 pm at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue in Union .

Born in Newark, he lived in the Ironbound Section of Newark and Boca Raton, Fla. before moving to Manahawkin 5 years ago. He was a former Fire Captain for the City of Newark for 25 years, before retiring 45 years ago. He also was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII.

Anthony was married to his late wife Emma Garcia (nee Monaco) for 62 years until she died in 2009. He is the father of Eugenia A. Schaffren and her husband Joe, and the late Anthony G. Garcia, and is the grandfather of Brandon Garcia and his wife Raquel, as well as the great grandfather of Anthony Gerard.  He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
