ANTHONY J. LORIA, Sr. – Decorated WWII Veteran
Anthony J. Loria, Sr., 94, was born in Vauxhall, NJ to Louis & Frances. He resided in Union with his
wife, Lillian, and moved to Edgewater, Florida in his later years.
He served in the U.S. Army’s 90 th Infantry Division and 357 th Batallion, L Company, and was decorated
by the French Consulate and was awarded a Knight of Legion of Honor Medal in 2014 for liberating France
(2 nd wave at Normandy) and received the Bronze Star Medal for action at Beau Cauday.
Anthony owned Loria Bros. Trucking Company with his brother Joe, in Union for 25 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Elks and Moose Club.
Tony never met a stranger, loved to dance, and listening to music. He also loved to play the organ. In his day, he
was an avid golfer and pool player and loved attending the Daytona races. He loved his family and always
entertained them with a great sense of humor. His motto was Live, Love & Laugh!
Predeceased by his parents, Louis & Fances; sister Connie LaTorre, brothers Phillip and Joseph Loria; and wife,
Lillian (nee Amoroso). Survived by his children, Linda and Anthony Loria and his grandchildren, Anthony III,
Deana Marie and Rachel Loria, Patrick, Kelly, Hilary & Matt Michaels, and long time friend and companion
Joan Freeman of So.Daytona Florida.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 31, at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, from
4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 1, at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Road (Corner of Morris Avenue) Union. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled Veterans Association.
