Apollonia "Paula" Velocci

Apollonia "Paula" Velocci, (nee Reali) of West Orange NJ, passed away on January 7, 2024 at the age of 94.

Wife of the late Amedeo.

Born and raised in Monte San Giovanni Campano, Italy. Paula's journey in life took her across the sea and touched the hearts of all who knew her. 

She dedicated many years to honing her skills as a seamstress and contributed greatly to the clothing business before her retirement many years ago. 

While Paula's career was admirable, it was her passion for cooking that truly defined her. From the young age of 10, she discovered a talent for creating delectable pasta dishes from scratch. Her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends, and it wasn't uncommon for Paula to whip up a feast for up to 15 guests at once. The love she poured into each dish made every meal a cherished memory.

Beyond her career and culinary talents, Paula found joy in maintaining her backyard garden. It became her sanctuary, a place where she could immerse herself in nature and find solace. Her dedication extended to protecting her garden from mischievous deer who sought to feast on her precious tomatoes. With unwavering determination, she stood guard like a sentinel, ensuring the safety of her beloved plants.

Paula's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother Dominic and the late Gigetto, Giovanni, Santino, Alberto, Michele, Giacomo, Palma Cinelli, and Maria Rettura.

To honor Paula's life and pay our final respects, visitation will take place on Friday from 4 - 8 PM at the Galante Funeral Home 54 Roseland Ave in Caldwell NJ. A Mass will be held on Saturday at St Joseph Church in West Orange NJ, at 9 AM.

Paula Velocci, will forever be remembered for her love and dedication to family. Her legacy lives on through the meals she cooked, and the gardens she nurtured. May her soul find eternal peace, knowing that she touched the lives of so many.
