Audrey Gates

Audrey Marie Gates, formerly of Caldwell and Essex Fells, passed away on July 4, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Wednesday July 6 at 11 AM. Interment is private. Visitation is on Wednesday from 9-11 AM.

Born in West Orange to Norman and Clara Burns, she spent many summers in Normandy Beach as the owner of A Summer Place Boutique.

She was predeceased by her husband, former Caldwell mayor James Gates and daughter Ellen Clare.  She is survived by her nine children: James (Deborah) of Bay Head; Jill (Dave Crandall) of Caldwell; Jeffrey (Irene) of Wesley Chapel, NC; Julie (Jack) of Darien, CT; Gerald of Highlands;  Jennifer of Caldwell; John (Allison) of Monmouth Beach; Joseph (Kristin) of Hopatcong; Glenn (Kristin) of Roseland, along with 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister-in-law Gail Taylor (Robert) of Beaufort, SC and niece Lindsay Ringer (Dan).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marion Manor Activity Fund (7 Ashland Street, Caldwell, NJ 07006) or West Essex First Aid Squad (PO Box 662, West Caldwell, NJ 07007) are appreciated.
