Aurora Flora Doldan 89 was born on January 6 1931. She passed away peacefully in her home on May 16th 2020 at 5:13pm.
She leaves her devoted husband Joseph Labora Doldan, her children Laurie (Grant) Harper and John Doldan and her grandchild Krystin (Dan) Minot. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Edward Doldan in 1993, her parents, Joseph and Bessie in 1999, and her brother Joe Jr. in 2006.
Part of Aurora's early childhood was spent on a farm in Leominster, Massachusetts, a place that held fond memories for her.
A self taught classical pianist, she loved the music of the 1940s and as a teenager would attend social dances in the Ironbound section of Newark where her father was active in the community.
After graduating from Barringer High school in Newark, she worked for Travelers Insurance Company and in 1950 she married Joseph Labora Doldan. The couple moved to Buffalo, NY where she worked for Cornell Laboratories, handling sensitive government contracts regarding their efforts in experimental flight.
She and her family later returned to Newark and eventually relocated to Caldwell, NJ where they resided for over 50 years.
She held numerous occupations among them: Special education teacher, Girl Scout troop leader, school librarian, insurance claims adjuster, and assistant to the President of several banks local to the Caldwell area. She worked at The Caldwell Progress newspaper, was an active volunteer at the Willing Hearts thrift store, was an avid gardener and taught classical piano to many children at her home.
There was a special place in her heart for the dogs she had over the years and she loved and cared for each of them dearly.
Her dynamic personality brimmed with laughter, amusing stories, romantic music and a love of family and friends.
A private service was held at the gravesite.
