Carlos Benjamin Paris

Small-Town Fisherman and Plumber, Dies at 68

Mr. París was born in the town of Muros de San Pedro in the A Coruña province located in northern Spain.

After completing compulsory navy service, he began a career as a merchant marine in the Norwegian shipping lines that took him around the world for the next fifteen years. When in town on leave, he would work as a local fishermen and help out in the family’s fields. As work in the shipping business dried up, he immigrated to the Ironbound section of Newark in 1985 where he worked as a plumber for over two decades until finally retiring in 2002.

Mr. Paris will be remembered for his strong work ethic and sense of humor. His habit of laughing out loud at the silliest joke will be welcome in heaven.

Mr. Paris is survived by his wife Encarnacion; sons Juan, Jaime, José and Ivan; and grandchildren Diego, Sofía, Kevin, Kayla and Nicholas.
