Carmelite Jeudy, 98, of Newark, NJ, passed away at home on January 26, 2025.
Born in Haiti, Carmelite moved to Newark in 1999. A talented tailor by trade, she found joy in her craft and in the company of those she loved. She had a deep appreciation for music and dance but more than anything, she cherished being surrounded by family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carmelite is survived by her devoted husband, Jules; her daughters, Marie Jeudy and Anne Marie Jeudy; her sons, Paul Jeudy and his wife Carny, and Joseph Jeudy and his wife Pascale. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Mackenzie Jeudy, Ric Robert Jeudy, Junior Francois, Akim Francois, Cassandra Jeudy, Regina Francois, Reginald Francois, Paulysha Abigail Jeudy, Marie Claire Jeudy and Marie Rosa Jeudy. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Elijah Francois, Serenity Carmelite Francois, Sincere Jules Francois, and Marie Carmel Pierre. Carmelite is also survived by her dear nieces Francoise Joseph, Judith Telemarke, Gina Telemarke and Adeline Metelus, nephew Ronald Telemarke, and cousin Rita Joseph.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. Leo Church in Irvington, NJ, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, NJ.
Carmelite’s gentle soul, loving nature, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
