Carmelo Valentino  85, of Union died on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J. on Saturday at 8:30 am. The funeral mass will be in St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park also in Union. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 9 PM.

Born in Sicily he came to the Vailsburg  section of  Newark in 1967, before moving to Union 36 years ago. He was employed as a laborer working  for Laborers International Local # 394 in Elizabeth, N.J. for 25 years, retiring 22 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4504 in Union for many years.

Carmelo was married to his beloved wife Marianna (Anna) (nee Testa) for 54 years. He is the loving father of Josephine Valentino, and Linda Favor and her husband Anthony. He was also the devoted  brother of Giuseppe Valentino and the cherished grandfather of Robert Machado, Anthony Favor, and  Juliana Favor.
