Carmen Joya

Carmen Joya (nee Pazos), 93 passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2023 with her family at her bedside.

Wife of the late Joseph.

Mother of Deborah Moustakas, husband Tony, Arlene La Salvia husband Rick and the late Christine Hendershot.

Carmen is survived by her son- in- law, Roger Herdershot.

Sister of Mary Reiff and the late Mercedes Vasquez and Anthony Pazos.

Grandmother of five and Great Grandmother of Nine.

Carmen was born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, lived in Union before moving to Livingston 39 years ago.

She was Secretary to the Administrator of the Newark Public Schools at the Harriet Tubman Elementary School for 22 years. She retired in 1992.

Funeral services were held privately from the Galante Funeral Home in Union NJ.

The family requests donations in her memory be made to the St. Jude

Children's Hospital.
