Casey LaMotta

Casey M. LaMotta, 82 of Lakewood, formerly of North Caldwell and West Orange, passed away at the Fountain View Care Center in Lakewood on October 6, 2014.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Thursday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell at 10 AM. Cremation is private. Visitation is on Wednesday from 3-7 PM. For directions or to send a condolence, visit galantefh.com.

Born in Vailsburg, Newark,NJ  Casey was a Korean War veteran in the US Army receiving a Commendation from General Binns at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He was later a CCO Inspector for the Township of West Orange; and a territory manager for American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company for 33 years, retiring many years ago. He was also a patrolman with the Newark Police Department, graduating from the Police Academy Class of 1956.

Casey was the former president of the Board of Directors of the West Essex Highlands Condo Association for several years, and also a past president of the Vailsburg Lions Club.

Casey was predeceased by his mother Erma and his father Mickey, and sister Claire Galletta Della Terza.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marion, step-children Wendy McGrath and her husband Bill, John Barber, Michael Barber and his wife Denise; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is the uncle of Anthony Galletta and his wife Ann Marie.
