Catalina Fernandez

Catalina Fernandez (nee Garcia) 89, of Union died on Saturday February 25th, 2012 at home.


The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, on Wednesday at 8 am. The funeral mass is at St. Michael Church, Union at 9:15 am. Entombment is in Hollywood Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Born in La Concepcion Almeria, Spain, she lived in Newark before moving to Union 19 years ago.


Catalina was married to the late Santiago Fernandez for 57 years until he died in 2007. She was the mother of Dolores Stiuso and her late husband Charles, Jerry Fernandez and his wife Balbina, Frank Fernandez and his wife Golda, Catalina Pereira and her husband Licinio, Maria Mendez and her husband Benito, and Elizabeth Fernandez. She was the sister of Miguel Garcia and his wife Isabel, and Encarnacion Garcia. She also was survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
