Caterina Pontoriero, 91 of Newark, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Caterina Pontoriero returned to the House of the Lord on January 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and by her kind-hearted caregiver Dana.

Visitations will be held on: Tuesday 1/19 from 3-7 PM and Wednesday 1/20  4-8PM.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral home 2800 Morris Ave, Union on Thursday at 8:30AM. The Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newark at 10:30AM.

Interment will follow in the family mausoleum in the town of Spilinga, Italy. Caterina was predeceased by her beloved husband Francesco Pontoriero and by three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her four children: Santo Frank (Joan Valentino), Rosa (Pasquale Calello), Maria (Antonio Pugliese) and Michael (Rosalind Menegolla), and by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews.

Caterina was a life member of the “Madonna Della Fontana Society” in Newark. Her wisdom, her zest for life, inner strength, devotion and love of the family, will always be cherished and remembered by family and friends alike.

In lieu of flowers a donation to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Oliver St. Newark, NJ is greatly appreciated.
