Cecil Chin-Sam, 85 of Irvington passed away on February 8, 2020.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation for Cecil at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Cecil lived in Irvington since 1978. The founder and creator of Pioneer Amusements, Cecil truly lived the American Dream. Ferociously ambitious and street smart, he also operated a car dealership, and was a longtime real estate investor. A talented poet, Cecil enjoyed to travel, but most of all loved being around his family.
Cecil was the beloved husband of the late Jean Chin-Sam; loving father of Derek Chin-Sam, Peter Chin-Sam and his wife Erika, Paul Chin-Sam and his wife Danielle, Brian Chin-Sam and Pam Cordero. He was the devoted grandfather of Tyler, Lea, William, Tyanna, Johnathan, Kevin, Miranda, Jhaziel, Samuel, Luis Daniel and Joel. He was the dear brother of Rudolph, Cryil, Edgar, Philo and Lucille, and was predeceased by his sister Inez.
Cecil was a very loving, thoughtful, wise, witty, jovial and hardworking man with a hearty laugh and warm smile, who would assist anyone with a problem if he was able. He will be forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
