Charles J. Latero, 94 of Union, passed away on April 1, 2015.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Tuesday at 8:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 9:45 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM.

Born in Newark, Charles was a longtime Union resident. He was a boiler room supervisor at University Hospital in Newark, retiring many years ago. He served in World War II in the US Navy, stationed aboard the USS Rodman destroyer, which protected escorting troop carriers and battleships. He was injured during a Kamikaze attack on the ship.

Husband of the late Loretta (nee Pedone). Beloved brother of Salvatore Lataro, and the late Thomas, Dominick, John, Angelo, William, Rocco, Mary, Josephine and Nancy. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great great-nieces and nephews.
