Mrs. Charlotte D. Ducas, 97, formerly of Springfield died at the home of her daughter on August 6, 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at St. James Church 45 So. Springfield Ave. Springfield on Tuesday August. 13, at 10 AM. Interment of cremains at Gate of Heaven Cemetery after the Mass. Arrangements are by the Galante Funeral Home Union.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18, 1916, Mrs Ducas was the daughter of the late Julian and Helen (Lach) Saniuk. Charlotte was a graduate of Wilcox Business College in Cleveland, Ohio and was employed as an administrative assistant for the Veteran’s Administration and legal secretary for firms in Newark & Millburn, NJ.
Mrs. Ducas was a devoted wife and mother who raised three children in Irvington. She enjoyed forty nine years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late John P. Ducas. She and her husband spent many happy years at their retirement home in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Ducas returned to Springfield to be near her son John and granddaughter Lauren. Mrs. Ducas moved to her daughters home in Whitehouse Station three years ago.
Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, John P. Ducas, her son John P. Ducas Jr., her sisters Hattie Szyderatys, Elsie Benedict and Jessie Saniuk, her brothers Leo Saniuk and Robert Saniuk, and her sister in law Betty Saniuk.
Mrs Ducas is surivied by her beloved son and his wife, Joseph and Teresa Ducas, her daughter Joan Austin, granddaughters, Lauren Ducas, and Caroline Ducas; and sister in law Irene Saniuk, as well as many nieces and nephews in Ohio.
