Consuelo Salazar

Consuelo Salazar, 86 of Union passed away at home on January 1, 2023.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Consuelo at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday January 4 from 9am to 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 12 noon, and entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery.

Born in Lima, Peru, Consuelo moved to Elizabeth in the 1980s, and has lived in Union for several years. She was a fantastic cook, and most treasured time spent with her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she enjoyed collecting toys and stuffed animals to give to them every chance she could. A selfless woman, Consuelo always put others above herself. She will be greatly missed.

Consuelo was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Salazar. She was the loving mother of Alberto Trujillo, Maria Munguia, Manuel Izaguirre, Isabel Fuentes, Monica Maisonet and Javier Salazar; proud grandmother of Miryan, Victor, Paola, Pedro, Mario, Omar, Manuel, Jimmy, Tony Fuentes, Tony Placencia, Marie, Kelly, Melanie, Daniel and Christian; and adoring great-grandmother of Steven, Cassie, Karyna, Brandon, Sophie, Julian, Nicholas, Jair, Grayson, Norah, Rowan, Leonidas, Jayleen and Madison. She was also the dear sister of Isabel Palma and Olinda Izaguirre, and is also survived by many other cherished relatives and friends.
