Donald A. Hibbard

Donald A. Hibbard, 71, of Union, died on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The funeral will be held at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union, N.J., on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, N.J. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.

Born in Irvington, Donald lived in Union for 56 years. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Binder Machinery Co. in South Plainfield for 40 years. He retired in 2005. After Binder, Donald worked for the Twp. of Union Board of Education in the Maintenance Department for the past 8 years. A veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Donald was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4504 in Union, the Union Booster Wrestling Club, the Casa Italian American Club of South Orange, the Twp. of Union Suffragettes Girls Softball League, the VFW Teener League Baseball League of Union, and the Operating Engineers Union, Local 825.

Donald was married to his wife Janice A. (nee Bavaro) Hibbard for 46 years, father of Scott D. Hibbard and his wife Jacqueline, Todd P. Hibbard and Kelly L. Hibbard. Donald is the son of Ruth Couse and the late Arthur H. Hibbard. Donald is also the grandfather of Mitchell S. D. Hibbard, and Giovanna Sapienza.
