Edith Fay Salabie
1934 - 2016
Edith “Fay” Salabie, 81, died Wednesday June 22, 2016 after a 2½ year battle with cancer. Fay was born October 23, 1934, in Westmoreland Jamaica, to Sarah and William Golaub.
Fay lived most of her life in Jamaica working as a seamstress, until migrating to New Jersey in 2004. She was an active member of Townhead Baptist Church in Westmoreland where she was a part of the women’s ministry and in most recent years regularly attended the Episcopal Church of St. Andrew and Holy Communion in South Orange since moving to New Jersey.
Fay is survived by daughters Paulgene Salabie, Audrey Linton, Evadney Salabie-Baugh and Cherryl Salabie-Williams; and sons, Wade Salabie and Deon Salabie; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brother, Henry Golaub and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Herbert Salabie, and her son, Neville Salabie.
Funeral Mass will be held on July 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Andrew & Holy Communion, 160 West South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey 07079. There will be a viewing immediately preceding the mass at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
