Edith Scola, age 99, passed away on December 17, 2024.
She was born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, before later moving to Union, and then eventually settling in Toms River.
She devoted 25 years to her career as an Assembler for the Dodge Trophy company in Newark, followed by a decade with Moldcast Lighting in Totowa, and finally, she completed her career as an Assembler at LaCrosse Technology before her retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Edith had a passion for traveling, particularly to Atlantic City. She also found joy in simpler pleasures; whether it was indulging in scratch-off tickets, cooking delicious meals in her kitchen, or immersing herself in word searches.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Gangemi, and her husband Dominick, cherished grandchildren: Nicole, Joseph and his wife Claudia, Dominick, Gabrielle and her husband Frank, along with her great-grandchildren: Joseph Jr., Emma, Benjamin, Frank, and Giovanna. Each of them holds precious memories of their time with Edith, reflecting the love and strong family bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
Edith was preceded in death by her son, Eugene, who will be remembered by his family.
A visitation for Edith will be held at Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union on Friday December 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A mass will take place on Saturday December 21, 2024 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church located at 971 Suburban Rd in Union, starting at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park located at 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union.
