Edward J. Tavaska

Edward J. Tavaska 83, of Springfield, N.J. passed away on Saturday June 17, 2017.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, N.J. on Wednesday at 9 am.

The funeral mass will be in St. James Church in Springfield, N.J. at 10:30 am.

The interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 pm.

Born in Newark, N.J. he lived in West Orange before moving to Springfield 51 years ago.

He was a foreman for Schiffman Brothers Mattress Co. in Newark for 35 years, retiring 18 years ago.

He also served in the United States Navy.

He had a great love for music and dancing.

Edward was married to his beloved wife Alberta R. Tavaska (nee Bauer) for 56 years.

He is the father of Janice Dobler and her husband Robert Sr. and Sandra Hameroff and her husband Richard,

as well as the grandfather of  Robert Dobler Jr, Noah, and Hunter Hameroff.

He was predeceased by his 2 brothers Francis Jr. and Ronald Tavaska.
