Elizabeth A. Habedank

Elizabeth A. Habedank, 74 of Union passed away on October 4, 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Elizabeth at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday October 8 from 5-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Elizabeth grew up in South Orange and has been a Union resident since 1978. She worked for Anastasio Jewelers in her younger years, and was a longtime devoted caregiver for her dear mother. Later, Elizabeth was a special education teacher for the Elizabeth Board of Education until her retirement in 2006. 

Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, and selflessly made many hats, scarves and socks for the homeless and for veterans. She treasured time spent at her home, entertaining friends and family. She most enjoyed seeing them have fun days in her beautiful pool, and never let anybody leave hungry. Above all, Elizabeth cherished her grandson, who was her pride and joy.

The daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette Davino, Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late George Habedank. She was the loving mother of Jason Habedank and his wife Liliana, and grandmother of Jason Habedank, Jr. She was the dear sister of Anthony Davino and his wife Lucille, the late Salvatore Davino, and the late Ann Gechtman and her husband, the late Robert. She was the sister-in-law of Fran Davino, Sharon DeSiato and her husband George. Elizabeth is also survived by her nieces and nephews Daniel Gechtman, Sheree Gechtman, Sandi Niccolai, Anthony Davino, Kevin Coyle and Suzanne Martin, and her God-Daughter Elizabeth Parisi, and their families.
