Eloy Mosquera, 83 of Watchung passed away on February 10, 2023.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Eloy at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday February 14 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church in Springfield on Wednesday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.
Born in Partida, Spain, Eloy (“Chicho”) arrived in New Jersey when he was 17 years old. He worked as a longshoreman for ILA Local 1235 at Sealand Terminals in Elizabeth until his retirement in 2004. He was one of the founders and former president of the Centro Orensano Social Club in the Ironbound Section of Newark. Eloy enjoyed making homemade wine and dining on traditional Spanish dishes. He loved to dance, but above all, cherished time spent with his family.
Eloy was the beloved husband of 57 years to Oliva (nee Feijoo) Mosquera; loving father of Roberto Mosquera and his wife Andrea, and Ines Figueiras and her husband Jaime; proud grandfather of Juliana, Rebeca, Alexander, Noelia, Vanesa and Daniel. He is also survived by his sister Lina Ituarte, sister-in-law Julia Mosquera, and by many nieces and nephews. Eloy was predeceased by his brothers Arturo, Pepe and Luis Mosquera, sister Maruja Salgado, sisters-in-law Paulina and Celsa Mosquera, and by his brothers-in-law Iñake Ituarte and Narciso Salgado.
