Euterpe Karas (nee Van Vourellis) 88, of Union, passed away on Friday May 10, 2019

at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The Funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home

2800 Morris Avenue in Union, NJ

on Wednesday at 9:30 AM.

The Funeral Liturgy will be in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Union at 11 AM

Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Union.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 - 7 PM.

Born in Caldwell, NJ, she lived in Montclair, & the Vailsburg Section of Newark,

before moving to Union 27 years ago.

She was a secretary at Seton Hall University in South Orange for 6 years,

and then at Irvington High School for 4 years retiring 28 years ago

. She was also a member of the Union Twp. Senior Citizens Club.

Euterpe was married to her late Husband Stephen Karas for 36 years

until he passed away in 1989.

She is the mother of James Karas and his wife Helen, and Stephen Karas.

She is also survived by 5 grandchildren

Christina, Stephen, Michelle, Gina, and Steven.

She was predeceased by her parents  Caliope (nee Stavrokellis) and Stratis VanVourellis,

and her brothers Peter, and John VanVourellis.
