Eva A. Rosa

Eva A. Rosa, 82 of Summit, formerly of Springfield passed away on October 18, 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Eva at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday October 23 from 5-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church in Elizabeth on Thursday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside.

Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, Eva immigrated to Newark in 1979, settling in the Ivy Hill Section. She moved with her family to Springfield in 1987, where she was a longtime resident prior to her recent move to Summit. Eva worked for Overlook Hospital in their maintenance department until her retirement 20 years ago. A terrific cook, Eva most cherished time spent with her family. Saturdays were reserved solely for family time, and Eva's ultimate goal of keeping her dear family together has been achieved. 

Eva was the beloved wife of Juan Calderon; loving mother of Jorge Merino and his wife Ana, Sonia Hernandez and her husband Ricardo, Julio Merino and his wife Gloria, Luz Marina Merino and Carmen Merino and her husband Walter. She was the treasured grandmother of Julio, Jossie, Ray, Luis, Melvin, Xiomara, Jazmine, Ashley and the late Jose; and is also survived by her many adored great-grandchildren.
