Florence Smith (nee Prignano) 96, of  Brick formerly of the Ironbound section of Newark died on Sunday,  May1, 2016 at home. The funeral service will be in the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue Union, on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 - 11 am.

Born in Newark she lived most of her life in the Ironbound section of Newark, before moving to Brick 2 1/2 years ago. She was a maintenance worker at the Essex County Courthouse for 30 years before retiring 25 years ago.

Florence was married to her late husband Alfred G. Smith for 55 years until he passed away in 2008. She is the mother of Alfred Smith and his wife Ella, Michael Smith, and the late Mary Ann Rehm. She is also the sister of Josephine Meo, and the grandmother of Julia Smith.
