Frank Paul Farinella Jr. of Summit, N.J., formerly of Springfield, N.J., died on April 11, 2012. Visitation is on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., Springfield. Funeral Mass is at St. James Church, Springfield, on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. Entombment will be in Hollywood Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Galante Funeral Home, Union, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J., on Oct. 11, 1925, to parents Frank Paul Farinella Sr. and Maria Felicia (nee Calascibetta), Frank graduated from Seton Hall University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., in 1952 with a degree in architectural engineering. He was married to Josephine Scilachi (deceased) of Troy, N.Y., for 49 years. Frank Farinella became a well-known builder and developer throughout the State of New Jersey, building over 3,000 homes and apartments. He was past president of the New Jersey Builders Association and served on the executive board and the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders. He later was inducted into the National Housing Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. Mr. Farinella served on the board of regents of Seton Hall University and for the many years of service and philanthropic endeavors by him and his wife, the Farinella name adorns the front gate to the entrance of the university. Other noteworthy accomplishments were being named "Man of the Year" by the Italian Tribune and the Knights of Columbus. The philanthropic endeavors of Frank and Josephine Farinella also include the financial aid in the construction of the Church of St. James in Springfield, N.J., where they were active parishioners. Mr. Farinella is survived by his brother, Phillip Farinella, of Livingston, N.J.; he was the father of Joseph Anthony Farinella, Mary Felicia Caporaso, James Michael Farinella and the late Frank P. Farinella III; grandfather of Felicia Marie Caporaso, Monica Francesca Caporaso, Nicole Elizabeth Farinella, Joseph Francis Farinella, Luke Ferdinand Farinella, Mia Francesca Farinella and Matthew James Farinella.
