George Edward Boelger
George Edward Boelger 88, was born to Anna Marion and George Boelger on Staten Island. After graduating from La Salle Military Academy in 1944 he attended Wagner College for two years, majoring in History. He joined the family business at Eveready Automotive Company full time. After the sale of the business, he worked for the John Hancock Mutual Insurance Company and Sentry Insurance until his retirement.
George was involved with the Conservative Party on Staten Island, running for Assembly in the 1970s.
George married Marie Purdue in 1954. They had one child, Lynn. Marie passed away in 1965. George and his mother raised Lynn together. In 1984, George married Louise McTague.George and Louise moved to Arizona in 1990 until Louise's death in 2014. Afterwards, George moved to Iowa with his daughter because of health issues. Despite his tremendous will to live, enthusiasm and sense of humor, which kept him youthful, George succumbed to death on July 16, 2015. George was a Christian who faced death courageously and peacefully.
George is survived by his daughter, Lynn, her husband, Leroy Bloom, and grandchildren, Daniel, John Paul, and Claire Bloom. He is also survived by Louise's daughters, Louise Ann, Faith and Julie and their families; a sister and brother-in law, Phyllis and Harold Kaplan; nephews Michael (Susan) Mangini and Douglas(Lynne) Mangini, William Sivolella and John(Eileen) Sivolella, and Christopher( Christine ) Purdue; nieces Tricia(Piotr) Zak and Lauren Purdue. He is also survived by a brother-in law, William( Michelle) Purdue and a sister-in-law, Dolores Sivolella.
George is predeceased by his parents, George and Anna Marion; wives , Marie Elaine and Louise Ann and other relatives Sharon McTague, Vinny Murphy, Edward McFadden, William Sivolella.
Special thanks to Eugene and Erline Cutolo, Michael Mangini, and Margie Bleuer for their support at this difficult time. Additionally, we would like to thank the staff at Senior Star, Manor Care and Palmer Hills for their attentiveness to George over this past year.
