George Ondish

George Ondish, 98, of Union,  passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ on Monday at 8:30 am. The funeral mass will be held at St. James Church in Springfield at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.  Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 5 pm .

Born in Swoyersville, PA, George lived in Linden and Elizabeth before moving to Union 64 years ago. He was a driver for Want Ad Press for 10 years. Mr. Ondish served in the Army during WWII as a Private 1 ^st Class, company L, 71 ^st Infantry Regiment, 44 ^th Division,  2 ^nd wave at Normandy from 1944-45.

Beloved husband of the late Agnes M. (nee Tomshaw) Ondish; Loving father of George Ondish III and Theresa Heaney; brother in-law of Betty Ondish and Doree Ondish; grandfather of Bill, Don, Rob, George, Tricia and the late Tommy; great grandfather of DJ, Jennifer, Nicolas, Daniel, Catherine, Jaxx, Joseph, and Brookx.
