George R. Medvecky 87, Died on April 15, 2012 of Union


Husband of the late Dorothea (nee Stavac)


Father of Diane Dressler and her Husband Paul and Karen Sigloch and her Husband David.


Brother of the late Joseph Medvecky Jr.


Grandfather of Anne.


Son of the late Joseph and Susan (nee Droban) Medvecky


George was born and raised in Newark before moving to Union in 1956.


He operated Joe's Liquors & Deli in Newark for 50 years with his family before retiring in the early 1970's


He was a past Post Commander at the VFW Post 2433 in Union.


During WWII he was a Electricians Mate 2nd class and assigned to the USS Hendry troop transport in the Pacific Theater.


He was a recipient of the Victory Medal and awarded a Distinguished Service Medal in December of 2002.


A Military Honors Funeral service will be held at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave Union on Thursday morning at 10:30 AM


Visitation Wednesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM
