Gilbert Amaral 77, of Whiting died on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. The funeral mass will be on Friday May 8, at St. Stephen Church in Kearny at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Born in Newark, he lived in Whiting. He owned and Operated  Starlite Studio in Kearny.

Gilbert was the son of the late Manuel and Rose (nee Balario) Amaral. He is the father of Theresa Pedernera, April Amaral, Patrick Amaral and the late Gilbert Amaral Jr. He is also the brother of Joseph Amaral and his wife Carol, the late Anthony and Manuel Amaral Jr. as  well as the grandfather of James Anthony, and the uncle of Joseph Amaral and Lisa Martin.
