GODFREY STANISLAUS HOYTE WAS BORN ON October 28 1956 in Georgetown, Guyana to proud parents Janet Hoyte and the late Compton Hoyte. He was the first son and the third of ten siblings in his family.
Godfrey attended East La Pentience Government School and began his career at Letter graphic company, then to Stockfeed company where he worked as a driver. From a very young age he exhibited a passion for working with his hands, particularly in repairing and fixing electrical and mechanical items. His interests included motorcycle and other motors based machines, which showcased his love for craftsmanship and his hands-on spirit.
In 1992, GODFREY migrated to New Jersey, in the United States, to unite with his parents siblings and extended family. He was employed by Suburban Coach bus company as a Bus Driver and later to Federal Express (FEDEX) until his passing. Even after settling in the United States, Godfrey continued to assist those around him traveling to as far as New York to repair things for relatives and friends always eager to lend a helping hand.
Godfrey a proud father of four, was deeply loved by his children: Colin who preceded him in death in 1986; Donetta, Kareem, and Daniella as well as his grandson Kaison. He was married to the love of his life Mary Adams Hoyte. Together they created a blended family which included children and grandchildren; Luwanna, Nakeicha and Tashell grandchildren: Shaquille, Shaquan, Marcia, Isaiah, Terrance Ceira and Tiara filling their lives with Joy and Love.
Godfrey passing on February 28 2025 has left an irreplaceable void. His kindness humor and strength impact the lives of many. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family and friends will forever cherish the countless memories and the love he shared.
Godfrey is survived by his loving wife Mary Donna; his mother Janet Hoyte his children: Donetta, Kareem, Daniella, Luwanna Nakeicha and Tashell; Grandchildren; Kaison, Shaquille ,Shaquan, Marcia, Isaiah, Terrance Ciara and Tiara Siblings Colleen (Vernon) Carol (Gegeory)Joy (Keith) Deborah (Dale) Shelly, Gary, Orin (Denise), Karen and Dione. a host of nieces and nephews great-nieces great-nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, sisters-in -law Otis Lorraine Desiree Ruth and Diana brother-in-law Vibert and Garfield, son-in-law Corey and numerous long life friends. May his soul Rest in Peace
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Godfrey at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Thursday March 13 from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.
There will be a Zoom livestream for the visitation and the funeral service. The meeting ID and password will be the same for both.
