Hazel E. Petrallia

Hazel E. Petrallia (nee Thorn) 94, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2016.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue Union, on Wednesday at 9:30 am. The funeral mass at St Theresa Church Kenilworth  at 11 am. Interment Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday  from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Born in Newark, she then moved to Irvington after her marriage to Jerry Petrallia. In 1997 they relocated to Whiting. Before retiring to Whiting, Hazel was employed by Fireman's Fund Insurance as an Account Manager in Hanover, NJ. In 2016 she entered Leisure Park Retirement Community in Lakewood, NJ where she enjoyed forming many new friendships.

Hazel was a very active lady with a love of her family, cooking, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She so enjoyed and was so proud of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was also happy spending time with all her children and their families as well as a love for their pets.

Hazel is survived by her son Jerry and his wife Beverly Petrallia, daughter Janet and her husband Bernie Vella, Daughter Doris and her husband John Rebelo, daughter Joyce and her husband John Cunningham, daughter Kathy and her husband Pete Schengrund. Grandmother of Denise Canney, Patrick, Kelly, and Sean Cunningham, Larry, Timothy and Scotty Kukan. Great grandmother of Ryan and Kelsey Canney, Armani Cunningham. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jerry Petrallia Sr. sister Ruth Bumen and her husband Joe and her father and mother Hazel and Henry Thorn and Stepfather James Ashton.
