Helen G. Hess (nee Hagel) 97, of Maplewood passed away on  May 13, 2014 at South Mountain Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Vauxhall.

The funeral service will be held at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue in Union on Friday at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.  Visitation  will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm.

Helen was born in Newark and was a lifelong resident of the Ironbound Section until moving to Maplewood 7 years ago. She is a 75 year member of the Wolff Memorial Presbyterian Church in Newark.

Helen is the wife of the late Kenneth Hess.  The mother of Sharon Foreit and her husband Phil.  The sister of the late Frederick Hagel and Florence Manzella.  Grandmother of Jason and Corissa.
