Helen Saverino

Helen Saverino (nee Milito), 92 passed away at home on January 14, 2019.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday at 8:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church in Springfield at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Newark, Helen lived in Union for 37 years before moving to Springfield in 2005. A member of the Springfield Senior Citizens, Helen was also active with the Springfield-Hillside Elks Lodge No. 2004 Women's Club.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Morris Saverino; loving mother of Thomas Saverino and his wife Carrie, MaryAnn Zelenenki and her husband Steve, Phyllis Nitti and her husband Bob and Gail Nasisi and her husband John; dear grandmother of Vanessa, Anthony, John, Nick, Brian, Joey, Rob, Tom, Kelly, Tommy and Michele. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Theresa Forte, Angelina Crosta, Elvira Wisnewski and Anthony Milito. Helen is survived by seven great-grandchildren, her brother Richard Milito and his wife Janet, her sister MaryAnn Coppola, and by her caregiver and best friend, Ellen.
