Helen Sikaras (nee Boutsikaris) passed away peacefully in Livingston, NJ. on January 10, 2024. One of eight children, Helen was born on July 24th in Washington DC to John and Krystallo Boutsikaris. Together with her family, Helen immigrated to Greece at the age of two, spending her formative years there before returning to the USA at the age of 23 and settling in Newark NJ. In 1957, she wed Spyros Sikaras, eventually settling in Union, NJ raising their family.
Helen was known for her strong faith, generous spirit, witty personality, and love of life. She enjoyed and had a talent for baking, cooking, gardening, sewing, and most of all being surrounded by her family. She cared deeply for others and made those around her feel special and loved. She cherished family above all, especially her grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her beloved and cherished husband of 50 years Spyros Sikaras, her loving parents John & Krystallo, her cherished brothers Charles, Harry, Dino, Peter and her beloved sister Panayiota.
She is survived by and was the loving mother of Stephanie Sikaras and Dennis Sikaras and his wife Rose. Cherished grandmother of Michael and Christina. Dear sister of Vera Boutsikaris and George Boutsikaris and his wife Efrosine and sister in law Afrodite Boutsikaris, and was the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield, NJ. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM at the Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield NJ. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
