Howard Katz

Howard Katz was born in Newark, NJ to Bernice and Louis Katz on December 18, 1942.

He began his schooling at Mount Vernon in Irvington, NJ and graduated from Union High School in 1960.

He joined the Air Force and was enlisted for 4 years. He served as an interpreter of Chinese during that time.

After leaving the Air Force he earned his bachelors degree from Steven’s Institute of technology while working at Inland Freightways, the company started by his grandfather Morris Brownstein.

After earning his bachelors he earned his law degree from Seton Hall. He practiced law in Union, NJ until his retirement.

Howard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan and their two daughters, Ilene Skara (Mike) and Julie Gendil (Andy). Howard is also survived by his sister Libby Galante. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Katz. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Jillian Skara, Matthew Skara, Evan Gendil, Emma Gendil and Amy Gendil.

A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin on Tuesday February 11 at 1:30 PM. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
