Her Story: A time to be born:
Janet P Del Prado was born on December 4, 1957 in Iloilo City, Philippines to Alicia Beloria Bañes and Juan Damires Pegarido. She was the 2nd child of 8 children, the first of 7 daughters.
She received her early education at Culasi Elementary School, and graduated from Central Philippine University.
In high school, she was a C.A.T (Citizen Army Training) officer as well as a glee club member.
She came to love helping people and followed the desires of her heart to become a nurse. She completed a Master of Science in Nursing degree at Kean University in 2006.
A time to build:
She moved to the states where she met and married Romy in November of 1986. They were soon followed by other sisters who moved from the Philippines although they never forgot to travel home to visit the family. Janet served both the University Hospital in Newark, NJ and the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ as an operating room nurse manager.
If you knew Janet, you know that she lived life to the fullest every day! She loved all her family members, especially her sisters Nancy P. Doronila, Salvacion P. Resurreccion, Dona Jean P. Bermejo, Joan P. Cerbas, Mae P. Manon-og, Charina P. Grino. She is predeceased by her brother Zaldy Pegarido and her parents.
She loved to travel: and even lived in Dubai for a few years where she worked and experienced the culture.
She loved her plants, pets, and vibrant and exotic flowers.
A time to sow:
Janet received and gave her heart to the Lord early in her life and served the Lord with all her heart and served others with the same love. Janet was a true worshipper and had a servant’s heart. Her heart was so big, she never went anywhere empty handed, she always had something to give away! She was loved and appreciated by all. Her smile and love were infectious; she was a ray of sunshine in any room. Janet’s life was a true expression of Worship. She became very active in church life and spoke of His love to everyone she met.
A time of reward:
Janet peacefully transitioned from the labor of this life, surrounded by her husband, sisters, nieces, and a few friends in her home, to her eternal reward on Friday, March 3, 2023, at home, after a brief illness.
A time to mourn:
We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that God will bring to Him those who sleep in Jesus. Yet still, there are those that are left behind to mourn her passing, carry on her legacy, and a host to cherish her memory. Trusting Almighty God until He calls us all home are her husband, Romulo Del Prado, sisters, brothers-in-law nieces and nephews. Janet was beyond loved.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Janet at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday March 7 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, with a funeral service celebrated between 6:30 and 7:15 PM.
