JANET GOMPERZ
Janet Gomperz, age 75, a resident of Florham Park, died in her h ome, surrounded by family, on December 1, 2017 from the effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a neuro-degenerative disease that was diagnosed two years ago. She was born in Santa Barbara, CA and will be interred at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Gomperz, her daughter Betsy Gomperz of Newton, MA, son-in-law Michael Pacinda, grandsons Thomas and William Pacinda, and brother Kent Santelman of Long Beach, CA.
Over the years, Jan was active on the boards of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges and the Fairview Lake YMCA. She was a founding member of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Warren, NJ, a District Chairman of the Florham Park Democratic Committee, a member of the DAR and a board member of Livingston Community Players where she had served as Vice President as well as Producer in 1983 for Hello Dolly and The Pajama Game.
Jan graduated from the Anokia School for Girls in Arcadia, CA and then attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO and Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.
A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 105 Mountainview Road, Warren, NJ on Saturday, December 16 th at 11:00 a.m. A burial service will be held at the Santa Barbara Cemetery on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges in Livingston, NJ, Pilgrim Congregational Church in Warren, NJ, Livingston Community Players in Livingston, NJ, and CurePSP at Curepsp.org.
