Jeanette Policastro Damiano, 86, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in S. Carolina.
Born November 20, 1925, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Nunzio and Anna Ciricillo Policastro.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise A. Kussmaul of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Ralph Kussmaul; and a sister, Rose Marasco.
Jeanette was the first female captain of Ironbound Ambulance Squad, a member of St. James Catholic Church and former president of the Parish Council. She received the Jubilee Medal from Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of the Diocese of Newark and was also a member of Independence Park Monday Club and had formally worked as a registered nurse.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 18, at St. James Catholic Church, 143 Madison Street, Newark, NJ.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
