Jeanne Denise Charles “Noune”, “Man Vite” was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, prayer warrior for others. She left this world on October 27, 2024 after a long period of illness courageously supported at age 90. She simply was a nurturing individual, she was empathic, a great listener that made anyone comfortable to confide in her. Jeanne offered prayer for any circumstance, and she would make great effort to achieve or obtain what she desired, via fasting and prayer. Her faith was deeply rooted in God.
She was born to Clerzius Clozeille Christolin and Darilia Bossous on July 2, 1934. At a very early age, she married the love of her life through an arrangement of both families.
Her, late husband, Vite Charles preceded her in eternity in January 2010. Together, they had 9 children: Mireille aka Dr. Charles, Venel, Kettly, Harold (deceased) Ertha, Lude (deceased), Henriella, Francia and Davidson (deceased)
Denise loved spending time in the kitchen, created delicious meals for her family. Classmates of her children would gather at the house for after-school baked cornbread, l’arbre a pain, sugar cane or a hot shared meal. She loved teaching hymns and Bible scriptures to her children and their friends collectively and she seized the time to make each moment a teaching and learning experience through any available means. Most weekends were spent modeling homemakers’ activities for her daughters; from cooking, cleaning, ironing and doing laundry. As per her culture, at the time, boys weren’t required to participate in such activities.
A mighty Matriarch, a pillar, a family gate and a strong family glue has gone missing. She was the most beautiful rose from the family garden. She imparted so much of her God given virtues and values in so many of us, that there no longer was a need for her not to be in the bosom of her Savior. Manman no longer is here, we can no longer hear her "Cheri", "Pitanwen", and the old time favorite "Map kale W Wi!", but rest assured she must and will live in us all. Such legacy of pure love and good will undoubtedly endure.
