Jeronimo (Jerry) Fernandez

Jeronimo (Jerry) Fernandez 74 of Union, NJ died on Friday March 3, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday at 9 am. The funeral mass will be in St. James Church in Springfield, NJ at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-7 pm.

Born in La Concepcion, Almeria, Spain, he lived in Keyport and Newark, before moving to Union 41 years ago. He was a longshoreman for ILA Local 1235 in Newark for many years retiring 2 years ago. A member of Club Espana, and Club Orensano, in Newark,  he was also an avid Real Madrid Fan.

Jerry was married to his beloved wife Balbina (nee Martinez) for 48 years. and is the loving father of Jerome (Jerry) Fernandez, and his wife Carmela, and Michael Fernandez and his wife Josie. He was the loving brother of Dolores Stiuso, Francisco Fernandez, Catalina Pereira , Maria Mendez, and Elizabeth (Betty) Raimo, and the brother in law of Digna, and Jorge Rodriguez, Lee Pereira, Benito Mendez, Gennaro Raimo, Golda Fernandez, and the late Charles Stiuso, as well as the cherished grandfather of Alexander, Mikael, Julian, Christian, Robert, Xavi, and Josie, and the nephew of Encarnacion, and Isabel Garcia. He was also survived by 10 nephews, and nieces, and many cousins.
